An exhibition inspired by visits of students from two local schools to MK Heritage Consortium collections at Bletchley Park and Bletchley Community Heritage.
It shows their creative and emotional responses to local historical sources and artefacts, crafted using specialist art skills in workshops by professional artist Aaron Head.
Supported with investment from Artswork, the South East Bridge and MK Council
Children from Bishop Parker Catholic School visited Bletchley Community Heritage at Bletchley Library. Herb Booth, Heritage Officer for Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, ran a hands-on session using archive sources and soldiers' names from the Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Chapel memorial plaque (now Water Eaton Church Centre).
Their artwork used research, propaganda posters of the Great War and local Bletchley landscapes to bring together past and present in a unique and respectful way.
Their learning journeys were completed by achievement of ‘Discover’ level Arts Awards and the school hopes to continue with similar collaborative work.
This exhibition was first displayed from 26th June – 7th August 2014 at Central Library, MK with a celebratory launch for the students, families and teachers.
